Savas is a professor of physics at Stanford University. Many people consider Savas to be the most likely to win a Nobel Prize after the LHC data is interpreted. He has been the driving force in the search for physics beyond the standard model for more than 25 years, and is partially responsible for bringing the idea of macroscopic extra dimensions to the point of plausibility. A mentor to many in the field, Savas still approaches physics with a child-like curiosity. He is the winner of the Italian Tomassoni prize and was awarded the Sakurai prize from the American Physical Society. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2006.
