In 1982, Fabiola received a piano diploma at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, Italy. In 1989, she received her Ph.D. in Particle Physics from the University of Milan. In one of the most male-dominated fields of science, Fabiola now stands out both professionally and personally as the newly elected Spokesperson of the ATLAS collaboration, the largest detector at the LHC. Responsible for the supervision of over 2,700 physicists, she has been involved in detector R&D and construction, software development and physics data analysis on several CERN experiments. Fabiola has devoted the past 15 years of her life to the development and construction of ATLAS.
