Albert is a senior member of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment, the second largest detector at the LHC. He is also a professor at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and a visiting professor at the Institute of Particle Physics and Phenomenology in Durham (UK). Albert is a leader in the search for extra dimensions, and generally drives the experimental search for physics beyond the standard model. His calm demeanor and balanced views have naturally cast him as a peacemaker, both within his group and with opinionated theorists.
