DAVID KAPLAN

David Kaplan is a professor of theoretical particle physics at Johns Hopkins University. After receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Seattle, David held research positions at the University of Chicago and Stanford’s Linear Accelerator Center. He has been awarded the Outstanding Junior Investigator prize from the Department of Energy, named an Alfred P. Sloan fellow, and recently nominated for the Sackler prize. David has discovered some of the most recognizable extensions to the standard model of elementary particles. His models will be directly tested at the upcoming LHC experiment.

An undergraduate film major before transferring into the physics program at UC Berkeley, Particle Fever had its origin three years ago when David had an epiphany–the story of the people on the cusp of this monumental scientific event must be captured on film. David’s involvement in the production of Particle Fever has provided unique insider access to the particle physics community.
