CARLA SOLOMON

Carla Solomon is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst in New York City. In addition to maintaining a private practice, she has been a longstanding advocate for social change through philanthropy and program development—especially in the areas of health and mental health, education and the arts. In 1991 she founded Kids of NYU an organization that supports children’s medical and quality of life programs. She sits on the boards of both the Kids of NYU Foundation and NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Solomon is a member of the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, where she is also president of its foundation and director of its Peter Blos Center For Adolescence. The Blos Center provides outreach mental health support to schools and other institutions that work with inner city youth. As a board member of the School for Strings, a community music school based on the Suzuki method, she is currently creating a music outreach community service program.  Dr. Solomon received her BA from Yale, her PhD in clinical psychology from Boston University, and her certificate in psychoanalysis from the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.
